Concrete Patio Cost in DFW
Length times width, times nineteen.
A concrete patio quote is two numbers. Multiply the length by the width to get square feet, multiply that by $19, and compare it against the $6,000 project minimum. Whichever is larger is your budget.
The minimum wins below about 316 square feet. That is roughly a 20 by 16 patio. Under that size a crew, a pump or a truck, forms and a finisher cost the same whether the slab is big or small.
Measure the area you want to pour with a tape. Add any walk that connects it to the house or the driveway, because poured together they are one job and one minimum.

Worked Examples
Which number wins, and why.
A 20 by 16 patio off the back door
320 square feet at $19 per square foot is $6,080, against a $6,000 minimum
The rate wins, just. This is about the size where the two numbers meet.
A 12 by 12 pad for a grill or a hot tub
144 square feet at $19 per square foot is $2,736, under the $6,000 minimum
The minimum wins, and it is the price. If you have been putting off a walk or a second pad, this is the time to add it, because it costs nothing extra until the total passes 316 square feet.
A 24 by 20 patio for a dining table and a seating area
480 square feet at $19 per square foot
$9,120. The rate wins comfortably, and every foot past the break-even point is priced at the rate, not the minimum.
The 20 by 16 patio, plus a four foot walk 30 feet long to the driveway
320 plus 120 is 440 square feet at $19 per square foot
$8,360 for both. Poured on its own, the walk alone would have been a $6,000 minimum.
Replacing a cracked driveway
Not this rate
A driveway is thicker, carries more steel and usually needs a city permit for the approach. It is quoted from the walk, with tear-out of the old drive in the number.

Common Questions
Does the $19 include tearing out my old patio?
No. The rate is for new flatwork on ground that is ready to form. Breaking out and hauling off old concrete is its own line, priced on the area and the thickness, because a four inch patio and a slab with a thick edge are very different amounts of work and weight.
Why is there a minimum?
Because a small pour is not much less work than a medium one. The crew, the forms, the concrete delivery and the finishing all show up either way. Below about 316 square feet the size stops driving the price.
Can you pour it at the same time as a patio cover?
Yes, and it is the cheapest way to do both. The footings and the slab go in on one mobilization, and any conduit for lights or a fan gets sleeved under the slab before the pour instead of trenched across the yard later.
Is stamped concrete the same price?
No. Stamped, stained and colored finishes are quoted from the walk, because the pattern, the color and the sealer all change the work. The $19 rate is a broom finish, which is also the least slippery surface when it is wet.
