Scope of Work
600 SF of natural travertine installed across a backyard walkway and connecting patio for a Dallas home. A sweeping curved walkway in French-pattern tumbled travertine runs from the side yard back to the rear patio, with two travertine-clad accent steps rising to the home's back entries. Set on a compacted base with the surface pitched to drain cleanly away from the foundation.
Constraints Navigated
Curved layout had to hold a true, flowing radius through soft soil beds while every full and cut travertine piece stayed flush across the bend, no lippage underfoot. Two accent steps were built to land exactly on the existing door thresholds. North Texas clay and a tight summer weather window meant the base prep, setting, and grouting were sequenced so the travertine cured before the next rain.
Materials Used
- Natural tumbled travertine pavers (French / Versailles pattern)
- Two travertine-clad accent steps
- Compacted aggregate base
- Polymeric joint sand
- Drainage fall away from foundation
Outcome
A 600 SF natural-travertine hardscape delivered turnkey, a curved walkway flowing back to a full rear patio, with two accent steps tying the grade into the home's back doors. The warm, honed travertine reads as a single continuous surface from side yard to patio, drains away from the foundation, and was handed off ready for daily use.
