Why does North Texas clay soil matter so much for exterior work?
Black-clay (vertisol) soils common across DFW and East Texas shrink and swell dramatically with moisture changes — that movement is what cracks slabs, tilts fences, and heaves deck footings over time. Our standard exterior scope is engineered around clay-soil behavior: deeper footings sized to your soil’s plasticity index, rebar (not just mesh) in concrete, saw-cut control joints at calculated spacing, and post-depth specs for fences. You’re paying for what’s under the build as much as what’s on top.
Do you pull permits and handle HOA submittals?
Yes — included in scope when required. Decks, fences over a certain height, concrete driveways, and many other exterior scopes require city permits in DFW municipalities; HOA neighborhoods often add an architectural-review submittal on top. We prepare both packages before deposit and handle the inspection coordination through completion.
What does “custom” actually mean for an exterior project?
It means the build is designed to your space and your goal — not pulled from a catalog. Your deck is sized to your door layout and your sight lines. Your pergola is proportioned to the house.
